The hadith is reported to be part of a sermon delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajj). The complete text of the hadith is typically as follows:
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action.”
This hadith is widely accepted and is found in various collections of hadith, including Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal. Its message emphasizes the fundamental Islamic principle of equality and the idea that individual merit, in terms of piety and righteous deeds, is the true measure of a person’s worth in the sight of Allah.
