The Masjid al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque) is the largest mosque in the world and surrounds Islam’s holiest site, the Kaaba, in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The mosque has several minarets, which are tall slender towers typically found at the corners of mosques from which the call to prayer (adhan) is announced.
As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the Masjid al-Haram has several minarets, each contributing to the grandeur of the mosque’s architecture. The most notable minaret is the Abraj Al Bait Clock Tower, part of the Abraj Al Bait complex that surrounds the mosque. This clock tower features four clock faces and serves as a distinctive landmark overlooking the Masjid al-Haram.
Apart from the Abraj Al Bait Clock Tower, there are several other minarets surrounding the mosque, each characterized by intricate Islamic architectural designs. The minarets contribute to the overall aesthetic and spiritual significance of the Masjid al-Haram, creating a skyline that is iconic in the Muslim world.
